American Airlines, which has been facing a travel advisory from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) since late October due to allegations of discrimination against African American passengers, has revealed a plan to promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
The airline announced this plan on Thursday after its CEO Doug Parker and other executives held a meeting with NAACP leaders, including Derrick Johnson, the organization’s president.
“We are committed to acknowledging the experiences shared by our team members and customers, and taking the necessary steps to create a more inclusive society,” stated CEO Doug Parker. “We believe that corporate America can play a significant role in promoting diversity and inclusion, and we at American are determined to lead the way.”
