British Airways parent company IAG has launched a new low-cost transatlantic airline called Level, which will have a base at Paris Orly starting next summer. This will be the second base for the airline, with its first base being in Barcelona. Level will offer flights to Newark and three other destinations from Orly, replacing IAG’s niche OpenSkies brand which currently only flies between Paris and New York/Newark. OpenSkies flights will continue until the end of next summer. Starting on July 3 and 4, Level will begin thrice-weekly service from Orly to Montreal and Martinique, followed by thrice-weekly flights to Guadeloupe on September 3 and four weekly flights to Newark on September 4. The airline operates two-cabin aircraft with 293 economy seats and 21 premium economy seats, and will have two Airbus A330s based at Orly. Level was created as IAG’s response to the increasing number of low-cost transatlantic operators such as Norwegian, Wow, Condor, and Eurowings. The airline launched in June with flights from Barcelona to Buenos Aires, Punta Cana, and Oakland and Los Angeles, California.
