“Debut of First-Class Suites on A380 by Singapore Airlines”

Singapore Airlines will be launching their new first-class cabin on the Airbus A380 in December, as part of their plan to introduce five new A380 aircraft to their fleet. 14 existing aircraft will also undergo retrofitting to accommodate the new first-class cabin.

The upper deck of the A380 will feature six suites, each equipped with a sliding door for maximum privacy. Each suite will have a comfortable full-flat bed with adjustable recline, as well as a plush leather chair. The seats are designed by Poltrona Frau and can be adjusted using an electronic control panel.

For couples traveling together, the first two suites in each aisle can be converted into a double bed. When not in use, the bed can be stowed away to create more personal space within the suite. Additionally, each suite will have a 32-inch full HD monitor, a personal wardrobe, a handbag stowage compartment, and a mood lighting feature.

The upper deck of the A380 will also have 78 business class seats, also designed by Poltrona Frau. The seats will be arranged in a forward-facing, four-abreast (1-2-1) configuration, giving all customers direct access to the aisle. The larger back shell of each seat will provide a cocoon-like feel for added privacy, and the center divider can be lowered to create double beds for those traveling together.

The implementation of these new products on 19 Singapore Airlines A380s required an investment of approximately $850 million, covering research, design, development, and installation.
