Postmaster General Accused of Election Interference Again

Like four years ago, the Trump-nominated Trump donor, Louis DeJoy, who also happens to run the USPS, is being accused of screwing with the election.

Ever since he was nominated by Donald Trump’s administration for the top spot at the U.S. Postal Service, Postmaster General Louis DeJoy has been accused of fucking up the mail. Sometimes he has been accused of fucking up the mail so badly as to potentially disenfranchise voters, as he did in the 2020 election, when he slowed down mail delivery and removed mail-sorting machines ahead of the election.

Like most things that happened during the Trump presidency, the whole situation is extremely complicated. DeJoy has consistently claimed that all the mail slowdowns and removals of mail-sorting machines and mailboxes were just part of a larger plan to modernize the USPS, but many people have accused him of lying, of intentionally trying to sabotage the USPS to make it harder to vote by mail.

In 2020, DeJoy’s fuckery resulted in a flood of lawsuits. A federal judge even ordered the USPS to take steps to ensure that all ballots were delivered on time, and the USPS ended up delivering more than 135 million ballots, a record.

But now, with the 2022 midterms just around the corner, DeJoy is back at it again.

In May, the Postal Service announced that it would be raising prices for postage stamps, a move that critics say will make it harder for people to vote by mail. The Postal Service also recently announced that it would be cutting back on overtime for its employees, a move that could lead to further mail delays.

DeJoy has defended both of these moves, saying that they are necessary to save money. But critics say that DeJoy is simply trying to make it harder to vote by mail, which is a popular option among Democrats and minority voters.

It’s too early to say what impact DeJoy’s actions will have on the 2022 election. But it’s clear that he is once again trying to interfere with the mail, and that this could have a significant impact on the outcome of the election.
